4K HDR movie file not playing

Good day,

I got my Vero 4K+ today and it’s working really well in certain cases so far.

However, I have found a specific 4K remux that is not playing at all.

I’m trying to play it through the official Plex addon, all the good stuff like audio passthrough settings and whitelisted resolutions are enabled, and I confirmed with a few other 4K remuxes that plays just fine. I also updated Plex server. I click play and then the Plex interface shows the movie background and there is a Kodi spinner visible for a while and then it stops and goes back to the Plex movie overview screen.

Configs and logs while experiencing problem: https://paste.osmc.tv/ehufenefog

Media info of offending file: https://paste.osmc.tv/vahugojoco.mel
Media info of another similar file playing fine: https://paste.osmc.tv/ujobazegaf.mel

The offending file plays fine through my same setup (Denon Receiver, Optoma UHD40) from a Intel NUC + MPC-HC + MadVR.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Change your GUI from 2160p to 1080p would be the first thing to fix. The Kodi interface is not designed for 2160. That also affects how Kodi sends the video.

If that does not help, can you put the offending file on a USB stick and try playing it directly from the Vero to rule out Plex as the problem?

I recall setting the GUI to 2160p but when I wanted to change it to 1080p I noticed it is currently on 1080p and I haven’t changed anything. Information on my projector confirms it is being fed an 1080p signal. In future I will keep your advice in mind regarding GUI resolution.

I eliminated Plex by adding my Samba share directly in Kodi and playing the file like that - it worked…
