AC coil noise in USB HDD power adapter when in standby

I have a Seagate Expansion USB HDD connected to my RPi OSMC device.

When OSMC spins down the HDD into standby mode, I get loud AC coil noise from the adapter that powers the HDD.

It is beyond the scope of OSMC to fix a poorly made AC adapter, but I would like to know how to prevent the USB HDD going into standby mode in the first place.

The HDD is automatically mounted under the "/media/" directory, so I assume that I must configure the component that controls that process?

Cheers,

Sunkai.

In the end, I just bought a better quality AC power adapter.
