Had XBMC remote on my Itouch and would occasionally use it instead of my CEC remote. Worked fine under Raspbmc, but doesn’t appear to be working under OSMC. I suspect it has something to do with the wireless as it can not find the host (OSMC/Kodi). IP address hasn’t changed. Maybe a Kodi issue?
OSMC should work fine with the Kodi remote apps. Have you tried a manual IP just as a test? You can get this from System Info
Hi Sam, yes that is where I double checked the IP address. Haven’t changed anything other than switchover to OSMC. It could be a issue with Kodi as I hadn’t used the app in quite a while.
I’m not sure now, but Alpha 3 works with Yatse app but I can’t connect to OSMC with Kodi official app. (android)
I will try it again with Alpha 4.
Working fine here. If you got network it should work.
Make sure you have all correct settings both in Kodi and in the app.
Make sure web server is running and that remote constrol/allow programs… is enabled.
I believe that OSMC defaults to empty user name and/or password + port 8080.
Got it working. Thanks miappa. Two issues
- Allow Programs on other systems to control Kodi needed to be enabled
- Username and password on remote had to be removed. Probably on the Raspbmc installation I had a username and password on the web server. Left it blank on Kodi/OSMC
By default I do believe we disable the username and password option in OSMC so this must have been copied over.
I’m not 100% sure Allow programs on other systems to control Kodi
is necessary. If it definitely is I’ll get it enabled by default.
Yup it’s needed!
I also thought it was needed, but it is not. I just tried, both xbmcremote and yatse work without allowing other systems to control Kodi.
Sweet, then something has probably changed … or now I think of it could be because of Hyperion … hmmm
The option is not needed for Yatse (or any other remote).
For Hyperion it’s indeed necessary to enable it
Yup I checked it that evening aswell … needed for Hyperion (only for disabling ambilight within menu)
