I have my Vero V connected to my Yamaha avr and arc’ed to my Sony tv. When I turn on my TV, the AVR turns on and when I switch to the Vero hdmi input on avr, the Vero wakes from suspend but I get no picture. I have to cycle through my avr hdmi inputs one time to get the picture to show up on Vero. So is there any chance to set the cec to wake up Vero upon TV/AVR boot and not on hdmi change? Thanks
I’d suggest as a first step to unplug the TV, AVR, and Vero from the wall for a minute and then plug it back in. This should reset the CEC bus in case something has gotten confused on what is connected to what. If that doesn’t fix the issue the relevant settings on the Vero are found in settings>system>input>periperial>CEC Adapter>
You can only play with the CEC settings at
settings → system → input → peripherals → CEC adapter
(settings level have to standard or higher)
In my understanding it is up to the AVR to wake connected CEC devices. What brand/model is it and what CEC configuration options are available there?
TV: Sony bravia x950h
AVR: Yamaha RX-V6A
I plugged all the devices from power but didn’t help. When I switch to Vero V hdmi from my AVR remote, the Vero resumes from suspend but I get no picture until I cycle through the other hdmi inputs back to Vero’s. Must be some kind of a handshake issue…
Currently I have set the cec setting “When the TV is switched off” to “Ignore” so the Vero V is always on and atm the hdmi switching works priperly for all my devices connected to the avr (PlayStation 5 Pro, Vero V and PC). But I kind of don’t like the Vero to be always on if it doesn’t have to be. I will leave it like this though if I won’t find any other solution. Personally I find some cec settings in osmc a bit of confusing and lack some explanation…
Currently the cec settings are:
- switch source to this device on startup=on
- remote button press release time=0
- remote button press repeat rate=0
- put devices in standby mode when activating the screensaver=off
- wake devices when deactivating the screensaver=on
- connected to hdmi device=tv
- cec client device mode=playback device
- remote button press delay before repeating=300
- enabled=on
- action when switching to another source=pause playback
- physical address (overrules hdmi port)=0
- force avr to wake up when kodi is activated=off
- send inactive source command on shutdown=off
- devices to power off during shutdown=none
- when the tv is switched off=ignore
- devices to also put in standby mode=on
- use the TV’s language setting=on
- devices to power on during startup=none
Edit: changed the “connected to hdmi device” to “avr/amplifier” and after off/on of my tv the mentioned setting is not listed in the kodi cec menu anymore ![]()
Did that fix the issue? I’m thinking that the issue is/was not that the Vero wasn’t sending a signal but rather the TV was switching its source away from the AVR and switching the inputs on the AVR was getting the TV to switch its source back to the AVR. I believe that “connected to…” setting is meant to meant to fix this issue.
Confusing is the nature of CEC and frequently a bit of trial and error is needed when you have multiple CEC devices interacting with each other. Was there a setting in particular that you wanted a better description of?
The only options that should be set there normally are ignore, stop playback, or pause playback. The Vero normally suspends on its own without that setting and if you choose to power down you have to power cycle it to get it back on as it is designed as an always on device. Options for exiting Kodi will not work as expected as Kodi will start back up again after a delay and may, depending on your settings, turn the TV back on right after it turns off. The power draw of the Vero is quite low so leaving it on all the time usually shouldn’t be much of an issue.
I don’t think the Vero suspends on its own…When I had the option “suspend” turned on and shut off my devices, the blue light came on the Vero. When I have suspend turned off, the blue light never shows even after a day. But anyway I’ll just leave the Vero turned on since it doesn’t give me any issues that way, thanks for the additional info.
In the initial software release for Vero V, I didn’t tweak all of the CEC settings and left them to be mainly default and inherited from Kodi.
When turning off a TV, it would suspend Vero V. When turning on a TV, it would bring it back. I didn’t find this annoying per se, but different. it was annoying for devices I’d have hooked up to the TV to compile on because I obviously don’t want them in a low power mode.
I decided to wait for more feedback but also got criticism. This was mainly from Vero 4K/4K+ users who just didn’t appreciate the change in behaviour. So I did change the defaults.
Vero V can definitely wake up and sleep when you toggle your TV/AVR. I’m wondering if the AVR → TV is the issue. Have you tried temporarily with a direct connection to the TV?
