Hi everyone,
I’m running OSMC on a RPi 2 and I use UPnP/DLNA to control the music with my smartphone and BubbleUPnP app. Thing is, I’ve always used minidlna (ReadyMedia) as DLNA server, because its artist sorting is quite different (I believe it doesn’t use the same ID3 tags, sorting only by ‘Artist’ and not by ‘Album Artist’).
But now that I’m running the Kodi 17 beta version, I can’t get minidlna to work as it used to and I’m now in need to use Kodi’s library and DLNA service and I get the same problem I encountered when I first installed OSMC: in the Music menu, the artist view shows ID’s instead of actual names. It mostly happens with classical music, because the ‘Album artist’ tag contains more than one person (conductor, soloist, orchestra). But it appears that the ‘Artist’ tag is also listed: I find the same album (let’s say ‘Violon Concerto’) under Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovski and under 206e3a6b-301f-4a0d-8632-7dfd7927cbcf which stands for Anne-Sophie Mutter, the soloist, and under André Prévin, the conductor, etc. It’s a mess. I don’t get why some names can’t be resolved. Here are screenshots (from the app, but it is exactly the same on OSMC’s library):
This problem is mostly an aesthetic and practical one, but I’d be glad to know if someone has a solution?
Thanks for helping me understand/fix it!
