Audio issue

Nice.

May I also ask about a audio issue? In System → Audio, I cannot use passthrough if I chose “Fixed” instead of “Optimized” or “Best match”. However, if I don’t chose “Fixed”, FLAC audio drops out each 2 seconds.

If I choses “Fixed”, it works with FLAC, but no bitstream audio, only Multi channel PCM.

Hi @Muyfa666 , I split your post from the thread you used and created a new one.

Please configure audio passthrough and appropriate audio codecs, reproduce the playback issue and provide logs. Here are instructions:

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

I’m guessing you have your GUI set to 4k. Set it to 1080p and see if that helps.

I created the logs, but there seem to be lots of personal info like IP etc in these logs. Can I somehow mask out that data in any easy way?

Nope, it is set to the default 1080p.

HI,

In the log creation instructions @JimKnopf provided, there is a link with further information; including log sanitising.

Regards Tom.

I actually read that, but it doesn’t anything specific for IP addresses etc.

How are IP addresses (unless you are using Public IP addresses in your LAN) in anyway “personal” information?

Fair enough. Here’s my log: https://paste.osmc.tv/viyanebaqe

It shows me first playing the file (flac audio) stuttering with “best match”, then switching over to “fixed” and the stuttering is gone.

So, you’re using a DolbyVision P7 FEL video with a default FLAC, 16-bit, Stereo audio.
I tried to create something similiar, but I cannot reproduce such issue at all in my environment using a VeroV + Philips OLED910 TV + SONY STR-DN1080, EARC.
Can you provide a short clip of a problem video, let’s say around 3 mins? MKVToolnix is a friend to cut out such snips even from mkvs with included DolbyVision Full Enhanced Layer material.

I can’t seem to make a test clip with MKVToolnix. Any other way to create a clip?

Check this details

The problem is that MKVToolnix is not able to handle the FLAC content for split actions …

Try to split the first 1GB of the video using dd with the cli:

dd if=<your video mkv file> of=VideoTestClip.mkv bs=1M count=1024

EDIT: I took the long way on this, but here’s a clip.

[Link deleted]

dd is a Linux command to copy raw bytes.
If you are not using Linux but Windows on daily business, look for a tool which allows to split the first 1GB of such a video file in question and provide a link/method to share this piece of data. fsutil or gsplit seem to be populare Windows tools for splitting files.

I already uploaded a clip in the post before.

Thx. Here your clip plays fine without any dropout or audio issue. The FLAC audio track has the ‘default’ flag set and was chosen by my player language settings.

Well, I’m not running the OSMC release but an experimental DolbyVision OSMC mediacenter version since DolbyVision profile 7 FEL is in preparation to get released.
Nevertheless a specific hw issue in your environment is still possible. Did it ever worked with your devices?
And why is this FLAC audio stream muxed into this rip? Your connected Samsung device claims to support all the other original high definition multi channel audio tracks.

May I try your OSMC version?

The FLAC is laserdisc audio synced to the video.

The file work fine with my Zidoo Z9X 8K, but not with the Vero.

It also works via PC in the same setup.

At the moment: No.

But why you’re doing this? The connected Samsung device should be able to play all original audio tracks. Use the google translator if it requires a longish explanation. At the moment I assume the root cause of your issue more in your hw environment (perhaps by the high FLAC bandwidth used … who knows?).
