Would be great to have the option of a more advanced remote, such as backlit, re-chargeable, possibly even a screen display 
What would you expect the screen to display?
How much would you expect or be willing for the price of the unit to increase by?

Rechargeable would never happen due to new EU rules.
We did actually look in to that, but it can never happen now.

that’s why I said an option, ie for those who are happy with a standard remote, they don’t need to fund extras they may not need. Re mini-display, probably overkill, but certainly backlit keys would be a big benefit for those of us using the remote in a cinema set-up.
I don’t want to produce two SKUs of remotes, particularly in this environment.
For now the focus is trying to keep Vero V and our current remote alive and that is a serious challenge with memory shortages.
I have never used the remote with any of my Veros, they just go in the bin. So I’ll gladly pay for the Vero, but not for a fancy remote. Just my opinion.

I suspect you won’t get backlit with a button cell. My Philips remote (2 AAA cells) has back lights but they don’t stay on long enough to find the key I’m looking for so battery drain is evidently an issue.
My Harmony remotes that take two AA’s have backlit buttons and a color touch screen and manage to go months between battery changes. 
The display can be quite handy for the non-tech folk. I keep a button on all my remotes screens that says “Live TV” which, with that button press, starts playing the last channel that was played. This is a daily task and gives easy access that nobody needs to remember what it was mapped to.
Just to throw out some general context for the topic, it needs to be understood that their are different classes of remotes and they appeal to different people and budgets. If someone is looking for a universal remote with customizable display and various advanced features your usually talking about a standalone product and they exist on the market. They also commonly come with a price tag that is more than a Vero costs.
In my mind, the class remote the OSMC remote is sitting in is the general “simple” remote category. This class remote has a relatively small number of buttons and is intuitive to use. With this type of remote when you put it in your hand your thumb can usually easily locate its home position (OK or play) which then allows you to move over to any other button without ever looking at the remote. The small number of buttons make it relatively easy to remember where each button is and what it does. As such, with this type of remote a backlight is less useful than on a remote with dozens of buttons spread out over a surface large enough that it can’t all be reached without shifting your hand.
IMO the step up for this type of remote would be to add IR to it that could be programed to do power and volume control to a TV.

Why not just use the kodi app on your phone if you want something visual to use.

I use a flash universal remote (MX990), and its dead easy to add the Vero. Would be much better then getting a bit better vero remote as it replaces all 12 ish remotes I would have otherwise.
