Best time to do backups?

I have a script which makes daily backups of the SD card but I’m wondering what’s the best time to run it to avoid any other activity like system upgrades. I ask because the other night the job didn’t complete and I can’t track down why.

I can see some jobs in cron.daily and cron.hourly but are these times relevant as system upgrades happen even when cron is not installed?

you can change the check for updates setting to manual instead of automatic in my osmc if you dont want the system to upgrade by itself

Yes, that should fix the most time-consuming thing that’s likely to happen, I suppose.
