Black screen shortly after boot

I just installed a fresh copy of OSMC for my new Raspberry Pi 2, but after the installation, after I added some videos the screen went blank.

Thinking it had something to do with the first boot I just unplugged en replugged the Pi, but then, after adding some more videos thesame thing happened. It appears that this happens every time, shortly after a boot.

I can usually do some things before the screen goes dark. I can see that the tv is still receiving some signal from the Pi, just no video.

I’m not sure how to obtain the logs, so I can’t post them here. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you installing from Noobs installer via raspberrypi.org ?

No, I downloaded the windows installer from osmc.tv

Can you use SSH to access OSMC?
Details how to access OSMC via command line locally or via ssh can be found here: Accessing the command line - General - OSMC

I can SSH into the raspberry pi while it is showing a screen. When it gets a black screen howerer I can’t.

Well not ideal but maybe after you rebooted access via SSH and use grab-logs -A to upload the log files. Before that enable Debugging in Kodi.

Ok, after a couple of boots it worked long enough for me to grab the logs.
I don’t see anything obvious in them though…

IGNORE THIS, this is normal in the kodi.log

Have to admit nothing directly obviously but this is strange. Maybe your installation was not successful and it would help if you install again via the installer.

Could not read plug-in directory /usr/lib/kodi/addons: No such file or directory

Can you run and post output of
ls -lah /usr/lib/kodi/addons/

Also how about your power supply have you already treid another one? Have you ever saw the colored square in the right top corner?

I already tried installing it several times.
I actually bought two pi’s, with two sd-cards, and they both have thesame problem.

It seems paste.osmc.tv is down, so I’ll post the results of your command here.

I did see a colored square in the upper right corner. I cought my eye since I had never seen it before.
I think I have another adapter here somewhere. I’ll try switching the old one out.

Ok, I correct my post. The error for the addon directory is “normal”.

But if you see the color square than you definetly have not enough power to run the PI. That could be either a problem of the powersupply or the USB cable.

You’re correct. I changed the adapter with another one and the problem is gone.

Good to know what the coloured square means. Thanks a lot for the help.
