Blank screen after upgrade

Hi,

After upgrade of OSMC via GUI there is no output to my Sony TV. I can see booting of the system and even a flash of Kodi GUI for a split second - then it goes black.

Logs:

Running on Rapsberry Pi 2, connected to Sony Bravia TV and my LAN (with NAS on it).

Thanks for any pointers.

As you are using hdmi_edid_file=1 can I assume that you had problems with your TV before? How about trying to comment all that hdmi and overscan stuff out of config.txt for a try?

also check the output of tvservice -s

Actually, I don’t recall editing that file (config.txt). I didn’t have any issues with my TV before. I’ll try commenting out what you suggested.

In the meantime:
osmc@osmc:~$ tvservice -s
state 0x12000a [HDMI DMT (4) RGB full 4:3], 640x480 @ 60.00Hz, progressive
osmc@osmc:~$

Ok, so I commented out the HDMI and overscan stuff and rebooted - and it works!

osmc@osmc:~$ tvservice -s
state 0x12000a [HDMI CEA (16) RGB lim 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz, progressive
osmc@osmc:~$

No idea why the commands were there - but it stopped working immediately after upgrade. Strange. MANY THANKS though! Would have a hard time figuring the solution myself.

Well “someone” must have had put them there

OP probably installed via NOOBS which does bad things to config.txt.

I did indeed use NOOBS to install the system.

noobs is great if only wanna try it out its always better to take the image or installer instead of your gonna run it 24/7 less chance of issues like that happening :slightly_smiling:
