Has anyone tried the blu ray disk menu on a Vero V? I got the menus to work but when playing the movie, it was buffering to much to be watchable.

Are these BD-J menus?

I believe you opened a support ticket about this.

As explained, BD-J menus don’t have hardware acceleration. Standard Blu-ray menus will work fine though

Thanks for the quick reply.

Your email stated “JRE movie support is experimental, we don’t advertise official support for it anywhere.” I was just asking if anyone else had tried it and got further than I did. So am I right in thinking, even though hardware acceleration is turned on, If you turn on Blu-ray menus, it turns off hardware acceleration which is why the video is buffering? And there’s no way it’s going to work?

Sorry if I wrote ‘movie support’ I meant menu support. The movie itself should play fine if you do not use the menu.

Blu ray menus that don’t use BD-J are hardware accelerated.

BD-J menus however have to use software acceleration and as a result the title is then played in software.

It’s a work in progress, but it’s not production ready.

I think your question is fair and others may be able to advise better. There’s been quite a bit of discussion about this on the forum, so I’m sure someone will chime in.

Turning off hardware acceleration can sometimes make the BD-J menus work if the video is of a low enough complexity the players CPU can handle it. If your only concerned with playing the content and not looking through the menus then the way to go is settings>player>disks>blu-ray player mode> and set it to either play the main movie or bring up a simplified menu (which will give you access to any video content without going through the on disk menu system).
