Having now got my new Vero V up and running (thanks to much help and advice from people here) I’ve been trying to find the answer to this, but without success.
I have a Hewlett Packard remote which I used very successfully with my old HTPC:
Is it possible to make it work with the Vero V?
Many thanks.
Open the My OSMC addon and go to the remote icon. There will be options for various remotes. I think there is a good chance that will work with either the lircd-full or rc6-mce-lircd profile.
Thanks. I looked at the list but was a bit reluctant to start choosing options at random. I’ll try your suggestions and report back.
Both of your suggestions worked, but (though I might be mistaken) I had the impression that with rc6-mce-lircd the HP remote was slightly more responsive.
Thanks for your help.

I’d never noticed a difference. That screen is only setting which file is being used that contains instructions on how to read the input coming from the IR sensor and which strings correspond to what remote control command. I’d expect any remote running through that input system would perform very much the same.
Interesting, thanks. As I said, I could easily have been mistaken and clearly was.
