Can't decrease volume with official remote

Hi everyone !
I just got my Vero 4k+ but I’m already having issues with the official remote control. All the buttons seems to work properly except the one to decrease the volume… The passthrough option is deactivated and I couldn’t find any explicit related entries in the logs …
Any ideas ?

Thanks !

Hi,

I believe that you started a support request about this.
Can you please upload some debug logs and press the button?

Do you see a blue flash on the remote when you press the button?
Are you using an international keyboard layout on your system?

Sam

Yes indeed, I thought that maybe someone had the same issue. I can post the log however I am unsure which one I should select. Is the kernel log sufficient ?

Yes the blue light appears, so I guess the remote works properly. In addition pressing the button can wake up kodi when power save mode. So the command is received by the Vero 4k+.

At the moment the keyboard is configured with the french layout (AZERTY). I tried setting everything back to default but nothing changed.

here are some log outputs:

There’s an update we need to push for the volume keys to support international keyboard layouts which is why I asked.

Do you know how to use SSH? It is worth a test.

Cool, yes no problem for using SSH.

  1. Login via the command line
  2. Edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list
  3. Add the following line: deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch-devel main
  4. Run the following commands to update: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y armv7-eventlircd-osmc && reboot
  5. Your system should have have received the update.

I also recommend you edit /etc/apt/sources.list again and remove the line that you added after updating. This will return you to the normal update channel.

Don’t do a full dist-upgrade, as the current version of Kodi in that repository is not stable

Sam

Thanks for the detailed steps. I followed them carefully and every thing went well. Unfortunately it had no effect on the current matter.

Okay,

To me, this means not a hardware problem, which is good.
Can you enable debug logging in Kodi, reboot, then during playback press the volume up and down keys and then upload logs via My OSMC? We should then be able to see what is happening in more detail.

Sam

Here is the link to the logs: https://paste.osmc.tv/toxamehebo

Thanks.

I can see VolumeUp is being pressed.
But VolumeDown is being detected as rightbracket which is not mapped to an action.

Are you using a custom keymap layout?

Sam

I indeed noticed this when having to input text in some add-on config.

The only thing I changed about the keyboard was setting it to the french layout in the Interface -> Region menu.

If you set it to UK (don’t worry – I’m not proposing this as a proper fix); does it resolve the issue?
You may need to reboot for it to take effect – I don’t remember.

I have reset all the settings in the Region menu but it had no effect, even after reboot. However I noticed there is another keyboard layout option located in system → input.
Changing this back to UK worked !!
Don’t worry if you don’t have an immediate fix, having it set-up in English is no problem for me. I’m just glad I got my remote working
Thank you very much for your quick and efficient support !

We will fix it in the coming days and know what the issue is.
