I’ve upgraded to a larger usb storage solution and would like to move all my media from my old external drive to this new one. I can do this using my laptop, but how do I then change the media location within the osmc gui withiut losing all artwork and play counts etc?

The kodi forum might be a better address for this topic, as it is not realted to osmc.
Go to settings, backup your library to a single file, do a search and replace in this file with a proper notepad and then import that library again. However it happened to me after doing this several times that the thumbnails cache was a bit messed up.
The clean way is to have NFOs and image files for all movies in their folders anyways. Then use a good tool to store the watched status, delete the whole library, create a new one at the new location, import it, reimport the watched status.
