Correct settings for pass through

Hi there, I came across a post discussing the loss of single audio channels on some codecs. The suggestion to fix it was to set the output to 2.0 and use pass through: “If you are using passthrough, you want Kodi set to 2.0 so that audio data is sent “untouched”.”

Can anyone confirm that this will pass through 5.1/7.1 untouched if the audio setting is set to 2.0? This seems incorrect.

Yes. When you are sending untouched data, specifying any audio configuration other than 2.0 will “touch” the data. Your decoding device will determine how many channels the data it receives should be output as.
