Did i do something really stupid? (Copying the .kodi folder)

I am running a bunch of osmc-Raspberry Pis and lately one Vero 4k and one Vero 4k+.

I like them to behave the same, so i copy the complete .kodi folder from one device to the other (using mc and sftp). I switched all of them to Kodi18 last week and did the same.

But today i discovered a strange behaviour on my Vero 4k+:

  • screen calibration does not get saved
  • osmc app behaves strange, can’t select any services

So, was it a terribly bad idea to copy an Raspberry Pi .kodi folder to Vero 4k+? (The Vero 4k+ is brand new and wasn’t in use before.)

Or is it just the instability of Kodi 18 currently?

Well someone else mentioned that recently so maybe something to check. But more importantly generally if you configure the TV correct no calibration would need to be used especially as calibration is bad for the picture quality

That’s a know issue with Kodi 18

Thanks for your input.

So in general, is it okay to copy the .kodi folder to a different device?

Oha. Do i understand correctly, that i should rather use some overscan setting of my TV, than on Kodi? (I have to check this, did not knew something like this existed)

Yes unless you have platform specific addons. Generally maybe only copy the files from “userdata”

Well not using “overscan” on the TV but proper signal interpretation. Normally something like “1:1” or “Just Scan” but depends on how it is named in your TV.

Thank you! “Just Scan” did the trick.

Was using “Auto” before. Nice choice of names, LG.
