Flirc IR adapter stopped working after May 26 update

Update didn’t display any problems and the Vero appears to be working OK. I can SSH in fine and have rebooted it from the CLI. My Harmony remote can’t control it any more however. Any ideas for a quick fix?

I don’t even have a Vero remote paired.

I’ve discovered it will still works if plugged into the black usb port towards the rear. I had it in the blue port towards the front, however that doesn’t work with the flirc anymore since the update.

You might want to plug something like a thumb drive into the blue USB port to see if the port itself stopped working which is thing a few people have reported happening. I highly doubt it would be something specific to the FLIRC USB as it is just a generic keyboard as far as the OS is concerned.

I’ll give that a go and report back. Whatever it is, it’s somehow down to the update.

USB drive appears to work in the front port, however flirc does not.

Curious. I normally keep mine plugged into the USB 2 port of my Vero V but I just plugged it into the USB 3 port and it worked without issue. Doing a quick search on the web I saw that FLIRC USB compatibility with some USB 3 controllers was an issue many years ago. Are your devices many years old? If so, you might try plugging it into a PC and have the software look for a firmware update which may sove it… or just shrug and use the USB 2 port.

It’s a current flirc device that was working happily in the USB3 port until the May 206 update, so I’m 99.9% certain the hardware is OK. As it’s working in the USB2 port I’ll just shrug my shoulders and move on.

If SSH and the Vero itself are working fine, it sounds like the update may have reset or broken the CEC/IR handling that Harmony relies on. A quick thing to try is disabling and re-enabling CEC in the Vero settings, then fully power-cycling both the TV and Vero.

Some users have also had to re-run the Harmony device setup after updates, even without using an actual Vero remote.

Hi robert02. The flirc poses as a USB keyboard converting IR from the Harmony remote to keystrokes for the Vero. It doesn’t therefore rely on CEC or and Vero remote related hardware.

I have noticed that the USB device that does currently work in the USB3 port is a USB3 thumb drive, which my explain with the thumb drive worked when the flirc (USB2) didn’t?

@sam_nazarko any thoughts on why the OP’s FLIRC USB would have stopped working on the USB 3 port after the update even though mine works the same as it always has?
