Frequent audio dropouts RPI 3b+

I’m experiencing frequent audio dropouts on a Rpi 3b+ running OSMC, kodi 18.3, compiled 2019-06-19.

The RPI is via HDMI connected to an Onkyo AVR.

I have a 2.0 audio system with front speakers only. And the problem is happening more often with files encoded in 5.1 surround. I’ve tried running with and without audio passthrough with no big difference.

Is there a usual culprit that’s causing this issue?

Not really.

Logs may provide clues

Played a movie for a minute or two and had 1 or 2 audio dropouts before stopping the playback.

I have no idea what to look for, but perhaps someone does? :crossed_fingers:

Thank you

I’m no expert but service.upnext seems to be doing a lot and presumably taking up CPU cycles while the video is playing. Can you try disabling that add-on?

I’ll ty disabling the add on. Thank you grahamh.

Graham, I believe you hit the nail on the head. Not a single dropout for approx 6 hours of playback since disabling the “up next” addonn.

Honestly I was looking into the “adjust playback to display” setting since having it set to off has given me periodically audio dropouts in the past.
