Getting very low volume at the audio port

I connect via optical to my soundbar, all is well. BUT: headphones do not work - volume is set to a minimum by 4k. I used the 2nd port from the right edge, assuming it’s the correct one. Anything I can do about it.

Are you using standard headphones, i.e. with a 3.5mm jack?

yes, tried it with a headphone and with a headset.

The analogue port is not amplified so I don’t think it will drive headphones unless they are high impedance and high sensitivity.

oh, why’s that. or is it rather just an audio out and actually not for headphones

Its primary purpose is as a CVBS (480/576i video) output.
