HDD doesn't appear in fdisk

Hi everyone,

I need help to mount a HDD. I use a HDD which works fine with my Fedora computer but it doesn’t work with OSMC.

I used lsusb to check it the device is recognized as a USB, and it seems to be :

$ lsusb

Bus 001 Device 080: ID 1058:0748 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My Passport 1TB USB 3.0
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

But when I run fdisk -l I doesn’t see it :

Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
/dev/mmcblk0p1 2048 499711 497664 243M c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/mmcblk0p2 501760 31115263 30613504 14,6G 83 Linux

I tried to run dmesg, i have a strange answer that I don’t understand :

If you can provide me some help (once more !) it’d be great !

Is the harddisk selfpowered or USB powered?
Are you using Pi or Vero?

Hi,

I’m moving out so I’m very busy, sorry for my late answer !

I use a Raspberry Pi 1 B+ with the OSMC dedicated. The HDD is USB powered. You think it’s not enough powered ? The power is a 2A and there’s nothing else plugged to the rasp (not even the TV).

Thx for your reply.

That would be the first problem you try to rule out as the cause. Try using a powered USB hub.

Did you add max_usb_current=1 to /boot/config.txt?
Did you ever see a rainbow coloured square on the top right of the screen?
