How can I retrigger the Kodi database upgrade on Vero 4k

Hi. I’m just wondering what’s the best way to retrigger the Kodi database upgrade that ran following the April upgrade on an OSMC 4k?

Why do I want to do this?

Well, since the upgrade I’ve had a few crashes, seemingly at random, shortly after starting playback or when skipping through videos. (Everything has played fine at the second time of asking, so going to hope this improves with a couple of updates.) The last time this happened, it seems to have reset my two library folders for Movies and TV Shows back to ‘This directory contains’ ‘None’. Boom… no library.

I’ve reset these and am currently rescraping the entire library from individual exported library nfo files, but at this stage, it doesn’t look like it’s going to pick up any watched information from those files. (I do have the relevant true advanced setting included.)

I’m hoping that my best bet to recovering most of my watched history is from the previous version of my Library database sat on my NAS box. I need to get this done with the minimum of effort. Do I just delete version 116 of the MyVideos database and version 32 of the TV database from the database, or is there something extra I need to do?

Thanks.

That’s the easy way, just stop kodi first:

sudo systemctl stop mediacenter

remove the upgraded database and restart Kodi

sudo systemctl start mediacenter

and the database migration will be performed again.

Great. Many thanks for the prompt response. Gonna let this scrape finish overnight and see if the watched statuses do in fact get overlayed at the end. Otherwise I gotta remember how I log in to the database.

On the plus side, the crash did seem to get my Weather working again. It stopped working a few months back and I never bothered to look into fixing it.

Using a free Trakt account and the Trakt add-on is a great way to avoid ever losing watched status in the future.
