It’s very useful, although netflix itself is heading downhill in the face of competition.
Now I’m aware the vero is software decoding the netflix streams I’ve been monitoring the temperature.
80 celcius seems worryingly high, and bad for longevity.
I already have my vero sat atop an old pc heatsink simply to get a little airflow underneath, but i did that a year ago, long before being a Netflix customer.
I hate my electronics running hot. I wrote a series of articles about overclocking and cpu temperature throttling on the raspberry pi 2 and 3 for my website a while back.
@sam_nazarko I think people are still looking for an all-in-one solution rather than go to a different device for netflix and another one for their backups, etc. At least this is the feedback I’m getting from people I survey.
Even though we had some other channel sources here at home, the kids parctically only watch netflix.
That, and the possibility to play back one’s own media libary.
If one could of course add other streaming services at will - that would be awesome.
FYI - since I have Netflix running on the Vero4k+, no one uses the Fire TV STick anymore, as the latter is very sluggish compared to the vero4k+
I gave up on Netflix a couple of years ago. The content selection available in this country (Denmark) was always much poorer than in other countries like US or UK. And since Netflix has begun concentrating on their own productions there is essentially nothing I want to watch on the service.
In fact I don’t have an account on any streaming service (or cable or satellite) any more. I’ve gone back to buying Blurays and DVD’s of the stuff I want to watch …
I gave up to stream legal stuff sorry but if they cant fix 60 hz and other shit its there problem not mine. The FireTV 4K Stick i had more problems than ive ever had with my Pi lol its quiet ridiclious.
And then the content industry is still crying about pirated files?
Same with the Apple 4K device they still didnt fix the 24.000 hz issue?! They even say its designed like that WTF? are you joking lol how ridiclious is that.
Netflix is the worst with the whole “We only let some devices access HD and 4K” politic you know what i don’t care anymore if you dont want my money its your fault not mine.
Nope, no need until you notice it breaks. The update held a few db updates and the “first install” bug fixed.
But since we change to the 0.15 version and it updates regularly, I thought i’d update the thread when it updates and people that want to be on the latest version can update.
Either you download the zip from github, or run the script again to get the latest Netflix addon, Then you install the zip and it will update the add-on without uninstalling it. You still have to manually install it via zip.
Agreed.
Having to switch devices to play content is a PITA. As you say, the content providers don’t seem to understand that convenience is what people really want. Give them a device that does playback of all content, and piracy becomes a non issue. Especially if they keep the price reasonable.
I don’t know of anyone under 40 who buys music. Nor do they pirate it. They all seem to use Spotify. Convenience.
Ok, your Netflix plugin is at 15.2, Widevine is updated and my OSMC is happy again. Thank you joakim_s not only for the plugin but for keeping on top of this
