I can watch TV for hours without a problem. But lately, if I’m not watching TV, it dies within an hour. So far I’ve always just pulled the plug to restart it. Aside from the annoyance of resetting it every time I want to watch TV, I also use this box as a Logitech Media Server for my music player upstairs. So listening to music gets interrupted a lot.
The config has been stable and working fine for months. I did have an audio problem lately, but that was with the projector, and seems to have magically fixed itself. CPU and RAM usage are running at about 25% when the box is at idle (with Kodi running, unused), even with the Logitech Media Server serving music.
I thought it must be a problem such as a memory leak, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Now I’m guessing that Kodi is the culprit, but the last update was a while ago. It is kind of annoying that Kodi is using 25% CPU while doing absolutely nothing.
FWIW, I’m getting the cecvtx kernel error every 10 seconds.
To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.
Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:
enable debug logging at settings->system->logging
reboot the OSMC device twice(!)
reproduce the issue
upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A
publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here
Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.
My workaround is to leave the TV running, with the projector turned off. This also seems to stop the cectx errors. So maybe the cectx errors are accumulating damage somehow. OTOH, both CPU and RAM remain at about 25% used, until it locks up.
I’ve noticed another problem, which might be related. I’m suddenly finding that videos are showing up as being about twice as long as they really are. For example, I watch a music video, that I’ve had for years, and is 4:04 long. The duration while playing says 10:22 or some such. When the video comes to an end after 4:04, it just sort of hangs there.
