The picture freezes from time to time while the film is running. For example after 40 min. Whether it’s 4K or 1080p. Only after Kodi restart does the film continue.

Can you clarify what you mean by ‘I think so’ – you think you are still experiencing the issue or you think the issue has only occurred since installing a newer version of OSMC?
If it’s the latter – does re-installing OSMC from Download - OSMC solve your issue?
