Impossible to resume playback

Hello,

For several weeks now I have had problems to resume reading a TV show or a movie. Either Kodi is blocked, or I can navigate but the reading does not resume despite the logo reading.

The log :https://paste.osmc.tv/mikeduyeri

Any idea ?

Thanks

Is your NAS going to sleep?

17:48:09.090 T:3303515120 DEBUG: Seek - waiting for position 13713752200.
17:48:09.149 T:3263665136 INFO: CFileCache::Process - Source read didn't return any data! Hit eof(?)

Does it happen with local content?

Sam

It’s not a NAS but a “box”, it’s modem / player / streamer. It is not supposed to go to sleep.

I’ve order new Ethernet cable.

KS

Point is this is new…

KS

Well, if you can still play media, I doubt the ethernet cable is the problem…

Would be interesting to know if this persists after tonight’s update

Sam

No change.

KS

It’s not likely to be an OSMC issue then. You could try an older version of OSMC. If the issue still persist, then it may be due to a change of behaviour from your device.

Sam

I don’t know. Why not, how can i try August or September release ? Thanks.

See Download - OSMC.
You can take a backup via My OSMC → Updater.

Sam

Thanks.

How do i know which # is august ? Can i update it from my Mac using WiFi or do i need an SD card ?

KS

Hi,

You will need an sd card. Download the osmc installer for Mac and launch it. Select vero4k as device to be installed and select 2017.08-1 as the version to be installed.

As Sam has advised you need to use myosmc to back up your config, as the install will overwrite. You can restore using myosmc once reinstalled.

Thanks Tom.

The 2017.08 version of OSMC is from August.

Sam

Thanks.

So i made a backup, restore august release but right now Kodi can’t find my network drives.

At the end of the restore process, I got a message saying that not everything could be restored : https://paste.osmc.tv/unilekifuq

KS

Maybe backup doesn’t manage Fstab ?

fstab is most likely not part of the backup so you have to restore it (if you don’t have the lines anymore use your old log upload https://paste.osmc.tv/mikeduyeri they are in there.

If i remmener well i have to :

  1. connect using SSH : ssh osmc@192.168.0.21
  2. edit Fstab : sudo nano /etc/fstab
  3. test edit : Run sudo mount -a
  4. save & reboot

KS

Yes and the content to put into fstab you can take from the log if you don’t have the record.

Thanks.

It works, few tests, with august release.
