Hi
Been using a OSMC 4k since September last year with no issues.
Yesterday I started to encounter some odd issues.
- external USB hdd unmouting and remounting
- reboots requiring physical power on/off
- freezing
I have provided logs here : https://paste.osmc.tv/adifojiyoq.
Initally I thought USB power for the HDD so have replaced today but same issue
I`ve tested HDD on another device inc new PSU & USB cable - no issues.
I suspect now either an issue with the 4k or power to it. Im afriad I
m not any kind of expert to determine which. I`m not sure if the logs will capture all those behavouirs but it will have USB HDD disconnects.
Could you please advise and let me know if any further logs/infomation required.
Thanks
The disk is showing multiple input-output (I/O) errors. These might be power-related, a data corruption on the disk or possibly a hardware problem with the disk itself.
Could you clarify this part? Is the disk powered separately or from the USB port of the Vero4K?
If you remove the disk, does the Vero4K have any issues, such as freezing?

Please test without the disk attached first.
A kernel panic will freeze the system, and this can be caused by a faulty disk

Thanks for the info.
To clarify - the HDD is externally powered. I will test running the Vero without disk attached to see if stays online.
Is there any way I validate the disk I/O`s to confirm before i replace ? i.e tools on my Windows PC which seems to be able to mount it and stay connected.
If your USB adapter supports SMART than smartmon tools can help

Have left gsmartcontrol running an extended test
Vero with no HDD attached.

The disk or caddy may be faulty
so probably just easier to order new of both ?
It’s probably the disk in honesty.

Not really, but that should work fine.
You probably don’t want Expert Installation
