IRSend only works 2/3 times

Continuing the discussion from Irsend on RPi2 with OSMC:

Hey is there any news regarding irsend?
I have been trying to get it to work as well, and interestingly I can send 2 or 3 commands just fine using the above command but after that the irsend just doesn’t produce any output nor error.

I am not sure right now, if it is after restarting the lircd service or after rebooting the raspberry. But it is reproducibly only a few commands.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Denis

Yes I got this working. I use

irsend -d /var/run/lirc/lircd-lirc0 SEND_ONCE “name of remote” “KEY_TO_BLAST”

I think I got this by doing irsend -h which gives a hint to the device. If that doesn’t work try updating the firmware. Let me know how it goes. I can inform you any settings if you require.

Am I right to assume, you do this using the GPIO?
Probably then the MCE transceiver I use is to blame
I’ll have to give it a try using the GPIO pins.

Yes that is correct. I am using both a GPIO receiver and separate GPIO blaster and both work fine though the blaster needs to be fairly close (4/5 feet) and pointing fairly directly at the device.
