I hope I’m more or less in the right place. I’m using the AM6B+ Ugoos now but it doesn’t work as expected. So I’m looking for a box with better support and my first question would be:
- Is there a known problem where video freezes for a bit and then catches up to the audio in fast motion? It seems to happen more often with subtitles on but also happens when they are not on. Audio sometimes (so usually it does not) cuts out and there a video artifacts on screen like strange blocky looking white lines.
Since Vero V also runs Kodi I think it may suffer from a similar issue? I
My second question would be is support better for Vero V compared to Coreelec? Dev’s there aren’t too kind to not perfectly documented trouble issues (I understand the policy, it’s just not for me as I need more troubleshoot guidance if issues arise). I am aware of asking this on a Vero V forum might yield subjective answers. But I’m counting on some objectivity:)
No. We don’t have reports of such an issue.
If you have a specific test clip and want us to try it here, we’d be obliged to do so for you.
Cheers
Sam
Currently, if you click jump forward, video does freeze for a short while whilst audio continues on the Vero V.
That was fixed a few months ago.
You can update to the staging repository or wait for the next stable update which is imminent (24 hours).
That’s good news. I look forward to getting the stable update. Cheers Sam
I would suggest for you to use the search feature at the top of the site and search for some topics you think might be along the lines of something you would run across. I think you’ll find that the overwhelming majority of interactions here are focused on helping the poster and not on a rigid support structure. People are frequently asked to provide logs, pictures, or other extra information but usually only when it is actually needed.
This is a polite way of @darwindesign saying we’re a little bit more chill
There are no stupid questions on the OSMC forum.
Just easier ones to answer
Welcome to the dark side

@Jeroen1000
I own a Vero 4K+, Vero V, and an AM6B+ (with CPM A14) and I have never experienced such an issue with any of the devices.
As for support, OSMC/Vero support is lightyears ahead of any other Kodi device.
The devs and other users on the forum are all very helpful and extremely friendly.
If you want to, you can share a link to a file in which you can consistently reproduce the problem on and I will gladly test it out on the Vero V and/or AM6B+.

Likewise also happy to test here.

@sam_nazarko @Kontrarian That’s very nice of you guys, I appreciate it. Let me source a Vero V as otherwise I’d feel like taking advantage.
But you may always take a look out of interest as I found a clue!
Googled it to be some kind of video decoding error. However, I’ve had it on one too many files to blame it all on bad encodes. Tempted to have it played by Infuse to see how it responds to the same file.
@Kontrarian let me find a spot to upload the file and pick a time stamp as well for easy checking. it’s not too big. Unfortunately, a rough family situation is causing me to be pressed for time so I’m a bit on a delay.

I’ll pick this up tomorrow with an upload link.

Got it uploaded. So it happens on the opening scene (where she is tied up) and on the transition when the bowling ball in on the bowling alley. So twice in the first 2 minutes. I selected the English subtitles along with English audio. Password to zip is ‘stutter’ without the quotes.
You mean like this?
My guess would be that it’s a bad encode.
When playing this file on my Windows PC using VLC, the same scene also appears glitchy/blocky.
Indeed. The file is problematic.
@Kontrarian @sam_nazarko aha thanks for the troubleshooting tip. Alright I tested some of my own rips with various luck (some stutter - some don’t. None stutter on my very old WDLIVE). They are far too large to upload so I uploaded something else. This pays perfectly in VLC locally, but stutters as soon as I play it back from a SMB-share OR USB-drive.
Stutter starts when the crew awakes from their pods. That’s about 2 minutes in. It’s always at the some point so perfectly reproducible. I’m thinking maybe a buffering thing if the encode is high bitrate. Not too sure but I feel I’m onto something. Does Vero V play this fine?
Which clip do you refer to when you say ‘this plays perfectly’
Sam
Forgot it. Was getting a bit late:)
Here is the link
Cheers, will check this out shortly

Thanks Sam. There seems to be something off with the player and remuxes. So I’m ready for a Vero if you can confirm it handles it better. Don’t know to what extent is may be a SoC issue due to its HW-decoding which would probably be beyond a fix (unless AMlogic plays along).
