Hi folks,
I was lucky enough to discover http://kodi.wiki/view/Keyboards - and so found out that some characters on my USB keyboards can do magic things.
This especially applies to “c” and “esc”. On the other hand, I never could find out how to trigger certain actions like “go to home screen”.
I successfully used http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Keymap_Editor - but could not find an explanation what all the items listed there actually do - and how they are related to the standard keyboard layout.
So this are my questions:
- How can I assign “c” and “esc” to my IR remote, using Keymap editor?
- Where do I find an overview of osmc’s controls?
Cheers,
Wolf
You’ve linked to the Kodi wiki page which contains a link to keymaps.
This is the closest you’ll find to an overview - but is a bit of a mouthfull to chew on.
If you navigate to the standard keymaps on your OSMC system, you’ll see some of the mappings - and it will be evident that there is an element of context dependency here, so ‘C’ and ‘ESC’ will be defined as actions which depend on what state you are in at the time.
I don’t know how to tell you how to use keymap editor, as that seemed, to me, to be almost as tricky as manipulating the keymappings directly.

Thank you for your reply. Good to know that it’s not only me being stupid, but that it’s a really tricky bit. I’ll keep trying.
