Issue: OSMC keeps freezing and going to a black/blank screen. Then decided to show verbose status on splash after last reboot.

Doing: Just finished updating to latest, looking through my files to play one. After reboot it showed splash then went black. Another reboot, looking through files, saw “building skins” and black. Last reboot, splash now shows verbose status on left (screenshots with phone available).

Replication: Kind of, just have to reboot. But the point it goes black seems to change.

Device: RasPi model B

Peripherals: Wireless keyboard and external HDD

While not quite likely it might be an incompatibility of your SD Card with the new sdhost driver.
Plug the SD card into another PC and edit the config.txt file. Add dtoverlay=mmc to it

Did it, and it fired up just fine. It hung for a couple of seconds while building the skin menu but freed back up quickly. I’ve browsed files just like before and I’ve got about five minutes of up time thus far with no indications of freezing.

Can you let us know the make and type of SD card you are using

SanDisk Ultra 32GB MicroSD HC I used with a SanDisk adaptor.
