Running RC on a RPi 2 using Ethernet and a static IP. Everything going pretty well.
Today I had to pull out the Ethernet cable for a few minutes. When I plugged it back in the network connection didn’t come back up. Settings > System Information had [blank] against IP address and my iOS remote couldn’t ‘find’ any Kodi targets.
I’m pretty sure on Raspbmc the network came back up when the cable was plugged back in?
I haven’t had a chance to post a log but can do so if it’s really required - though it should be pretty easy to reproduce on anyone’s install.
I’m not sure why you think it would be “pretty easy to reproduce on anyone’s installs” - to my knowledge you’re the first person to report this, and I certainly haven’t seen it occur in hundreds of hours of testing of OSMC. A problem like this would have produced dozens of posts by now if it was common place.
Without a log we can only guess what the problem might be, so yes, we need logs.
Please run an update to get the latest version of OSMC settings first, then when you reproduce the problem please use the log uploader to save a copy of the logs to SD card, (new feature added in the latest OSMC settings) as the log uploader website is down at the moment.
You could then paste that log somewhere like pastebin.com or xbmclogs.com.
Fair enough. I rushed when posting, my intention was to say “if this is a widespread issue it should be pretty easy to reproduce”. Apparently it appears not to be.
I ran the updates and can’t reproduce the issue so I’ll leave it at that.
I don’t suppose you have wireless connected as well ?
