I’ve seen mention of the above, with possible features such as rechargeable & backlight, is this in the pipeline?

The official stance of OSMC has always been to not discuss unreleased products or plans for future products or product updates.
No plan for a new remote at this time

a new remote would indeed be welcome as it is the one single thing bringing down an otherwise stellar product.

We proposed some ideas but got repeatedly told that ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
Any new improvements would be iterative, not a 30 button giant 
I love the Vero remote!
It’s simple and does everything I need it to. If you want to have it do special things on long presses and what not that can be configured as well.
I love that there is a dedicated PLAY and STOP button, which for some reason is a rarity on “Kodi” remotes.
I’d settle for a working remote, the current one misses clicks and or does double triple clicks.

Still think backlit would be a great addition, you could offer an “enhanced” remote as a chargeable extra, I’m sure features like that would be popular as many of us use their Vero’s in a cinema set-up.

Mine does this too - click on “Movies” and it it clicks through to the menu, then starts whatever film it is on. Click on a TV series and it jumps through the season menu to the episodes list.
