No addons on my newly purchased Vero V

Hello,

Today my Vero V got delivered. As instructed in the manual, I first updated the system, which went smoothly.

When trying to start customizing the installation, I ran into an issue with addons. Apparently, it is impossible to search and install any. There are a few preinstalled (mostly languages) but I cannot find any addons that I specifically bought the Vero V for (German broadcaster, etc). These addons are supposed to be in the default Kodi repository.

However, when trying to install from the repository, I am always greeted with an error message:

Could not connect to repository.

What is going on?

The internet connection obviously works since I was able to install the system update and can reach the internet from the commandline (via SSH).

Can you please help me figure out what is wrong?

Thanks

If you installed updates, then the network connection is good.

Can you confirm the version of OSMC you have running?

Try reboot the system

Sam

I have two new vero v that I received today and its not possible to connect to the official repo on either of them, thought it may have been my firewall but I moved both vero boxes over to the isp router and still have the same issues, not only wont either connect but both are crashing when I back out of the repo browser, I did enable logs on both devices but both crash when I try turn on logging from inside kodi, I tried the osmc log uploader and both devices hang for a few minutes.

by the way both devices updated to the latest release without a problem, the only reason for the repo in my case is to install a different skin and the watchlist addon and I cant do either :frowning: so for the time being I fell back on my two trusty vero 4’s.

Just to add to my post, I have reset both vero v and still have the same issues, installing from the official repo, it seems to search for it then says ā€˜Could not connect to repository’ back out of it causes both to crash with the uphappy face ( same as mine ! ) enabling logging either causes a crash of the devices hang, I left them for a while but decided to power them off and try again.

So I have tried two different routers to my isp to rule out some problems with the actual connection, DNS, Rules and so on.
Trying updates from the add on section ( nothing happens)
Resetting both vero v’s
Swapping the psu from one to another and using one from a vero 4k ( As assumed, did nothing )
Tried gather logs but gave up due to crashes.

As for the vero 4 k, I have two and neither will install any addons, the repo list is shown but wont install anything, had no issue a few days ago with one of them installing our skin of choice and the watchlist after a reset.

Any suggestions to bring these two into use will be appreciated.

Might be an issue with the Kodi add-on repository.

Leave it with me. I don’t have a Vero in front of me right now but are you able to upload a log? This would also rule out a networking issue.

I’ve checked Kodi slack. The mirrors are down, so it’s a known issue that will be resolved shortly.

Furthermore, there’s going to be scheduled maintenance on the Kodi mirrors on 12th, so expect some downtime then.

Thanks for the update.

Do you have an idea or estimate for how long the outage might last?

Are Kodi mirror outages a frequent occurrence?

Kodi 21.3 with kernel 4.9.269-87-osmc

Rebooting did not resolve the issue.

I also noticed that installing from other repositories does not work either because dependencies like script.module.kodi-six cannot be installed. Is that also caused by the outage of the main kodi repository?

Thanks Sam for providing that info, I will leave my two vero v’s for another day and try again to set them up, I need to get the logs from one somehow so I think if I just do an reset, then an update and see if it crashes, it happens trying to set up logging and trying to access my local server, not seen this in the vero 4k.s I have, so I hope its not a hardware issue, on both would just be my luck ! , I want to move on to the vero v because the 4k gave sterling service but its end of line now.

No, I don’t have an ETA but I’m sure it will be fixed soon.

Outages are not common.

Yes, any dependencies from the Kodi repository won’t be available right now.

It’s not a hardware issue.

I doubt if it is, more like it throwing a fit trying to connect to a repo that’s down but knowing my luck…. well hold my beer !

It will be absolutely fine.
I’ll let you know here when the repo is back up

Sam

Thanks Sam, much appreciated !

You also have https://status.kodi.tv/

Thank you for the link, handy to have, seems to be an ongoing issue.

Now https://status.kodi.tv/ says ā€œAll systems operationalā€, however, I can’t get Add-ons, too.
My logs: https://paste.osmc.tv/itorozikah
The error line, I think, is this one:

2026-01-09 07:34:23.193 T:2986 error : CCurlFile::Open - https://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/omega/addons.xml.gz?sha256 Failed with code 404:
2026-01-09 07:34:23.193 T:2986 error : CRepository: failed read ā€˜https://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/omega/addons.xml.gz?sha256’

The URL in question: https://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/omega/addons.xml.gz?sha256
Response: ā€œHash type not supportedā€

Perhaps something is still down, I’ll wait.

Still a known problem.

Ironically I only moved back to using Kodi add-on infrastructure (we used to mirror it) recently because of how reliable it had become.

If it stays down for much longer I can give a suggestion to use the OSMC mirrors instead as they are still active (albeit primarily to support legacy devices such as Vero 4K/4K+)

Sam

Seems to have worked for me, I was able to install Confluence on my shiny new Vero V.

Things should now be resolved

Cheers
