No network after update

Installed alpha 3 via w8 and jacked in the SD card in my pi and noticed a update under my osmc.
Installed update smoothly (abit slow maybe hehe)
And now it doesnt get an IP adress what so ever. Running with wired cable.

If I reinstall via w8 installer everything works really nice. But as fast as I update the IP is way gone ;/

This is a bug and we hope to have this fixed in Alpha 4

Hi all.

Same problems here. Starting manually connman service fix this, but I don’t find the way to reenter in kodi menu after going to terminal. If I try to put service as default (“sudo update-rc.d connman defaults”) it returns me an error code about bad structure in skeleton daemon.

Other services working in alpha3 have also broken with update, as no-ip one

There is also a problem with diskmount-osmc packet. dpkg can’t process it to update

rolling back to alpha3.whitout updates

Keep up the good work, friend. It’s a great and light distro

I use linux everyday. What I actually ended up doing to get around these alpha issues is I used dd to create an image on my current working OSMC. When an update happens, if stuff goes wrong, I just zero my drive and reflash where I left off. Just a little tip.

A good idea – you should try the Alpha 4 release soon

Sam

Losing the network connection when installing updates is a known problem which was discovered in Alpha 3 that has definitely been fixed in Alpha 4.

You’ll need to perform a fresh install of Alpha 4 to get the fix however as it is not practical to upgrade in place from Alpha 3 to Alpha 4 due to many changes to the way the update system works.

It may be possible to upgrade from Alpha 4 to future releases however if no more changes are made to the update system. (This can’t be guaranteed though - this is still alpha software and subject to change)

Thanks for the reply all, gonna do a fresh install tomorrow. Looking forward to osmc alot:)
