No response to ping

My Vero V is connected with ethernet, and suddenly it no longer responds to ping. I notice that the blue LED only lights up for one or two seconds. On the screen I get the OSMC logo, forever.

I’ve tried powering it over USB-A; no joy. Is there any other troubleshooting I can do?

Hi, is anything power-hungry connected to the USB ports?

no

Since no one else has come forward with a helpful idea so far, I suggest reinstalling VeroV.

Btw. that’s normal behaviour:

I have jacked in with a keyboard. Some dependency failed, so it didn’t go any further.

This suggests that a re-install is indeed required. I’d like to backup my configuration first. Surprisingly, I find no information in the wiki as to how this is done. My OSMC obviously isn’t a possibility. How can I best backup my config from the shell?

Can you show a photo of the error?

The problem is fixed. I had added a line to /etc/fstab to mount an SD card that I was trying to put into service. Unfortunately, it had a lot of errors, and is now in a Windows machine getting scanned. So I commented-out the line in fstab, and everything is peachy keen again.

I don’t recommend using fstab mounts for removable media. Instead OSMC will handle this for you and present the SD card under /media.

It goes without saying but if you are getting errors with the SD I would not trust it for anything important.

Yup, we’ve just discovered a good reason why.
