No Video Without Reboot

I have a new Vero V. Whenever I power everything off for the night (just as an example; I’ve also seen the same behavior if only an hour has passed) when I power things up again, the Vero V doesn’t output video. If I login to the web UI, it says a screensaver (aerial) is playing which I can pause, unpause, so it seems the unit isn’t hung, but no matter what I press on the remote the Vero doesn’t seem to output video until I pull the power and it starts working immediately as it boots up. I have the screensaver set to 5 minutes and all suspend features including turn off display are disabled. I opened a support ticket as well but wasn’t sure if I should post here too as it’s my first issue.

Suggestion: Reset these settings the to defaults for tests.

  • Don’t use other resolutions higher than1920x1080 for the GUI!!! Higher resolution can create issues with sound and behaviour. Playback resolutions aren’t affected by this setting.
  • Use the OSMC skin.
  • Use the Dim screensaver.
  • Enable debug logs, see below

If this also create this issue, create new logs with these settings. Otherwise make changes step-by-step, so you know, who is guilty.

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.
