OSMC Raspberry Pi Flirc Receiver Install errors

I bought the flirc receiver USB for my pi. When I try to install the RPM I get the following errors:

osmc@osmc:~$ sudo rpm -Uvh flirc-1.2.6-2.x86_64.rpm

rpm: RPM should not be used directly install RPM packages, use Alien instead!
rpm: However assuming you know what you are doing…

I am not sure how to proceed. I have the 512 model and not the newest Pi.

OSMC is based on APT not RPM. It also runs on arm hardware not x86_64, which is Intel PC hardware.

Besides, you don’t install the Flirc software on your Pi - the software is to configure the device (learning your remote) which you do on a PC or Mac using the PC/Mac software.

Once programmed you then plug the Flirc into your Pi. I suggest you read the Flirc documentation a bit further to understand how a Flirc works - it is not a standard USB IR receiver, it is a fully programmable one that emulates a keyboard and can be programmed to send any keystroke from any remote button.

Yeah I actually got it going before I saw your reply. My only other issues are streaming MKV’s at this point. All videos stream across smb fine except for the large bluray mkv’s. Is there a fix for that as well?

You’re going to have to provide a lot more information about your setup than you have so far (essentially nothing) for us to be able to help there…

Pi 1 or Pi 2 ?

Ethernet or Wifi ?

What clock settings are you using in Overclock ?

The bitrate of the movies that you have trouble with ?

As much info as you can provide really.
