OSMC Starts buffering after 1 hour

Hello!
My OSMC installation is awesome!

But im having this problem:

Im playing tv and it works fine, but after about 1 hour it is hanging.

Its not crashed, but its saying ‘buffering’ and lagging quite a bit,

The menu is working fine.

When im ssh`d into it and run htop i see that its just normal usage.

Im using a PI 3b+

Whats happening? Please help.

Ive ordered a official pi power supply and it arrives 2 days from now but i dont think thats the issue

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

I cant see logging as an option, i have it at standard so where is it

Change settings level to “expert”!

I did that but i still dont see it

EDIT: Read below

nvm it was translated weirdly, im turning it on and waiting untill it happens

Here is the log:

i swapped the display a few times btw

I think its a software thing because it stopped after excactly 1 hour

Hi,

It looks like the issue with IPTV is that correct?

I’m not sure if the video cache settings in advancedsettings.xml have any affect on iptv/pvr, but it may be worth changing the buffermode to 1 and see if that makes any difference. 2 only does internet file systems.

More details can be found here:

https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

Thanks Tom.

Thanks for the reply!
I am indeed using IPTV.

I have already changed the advancedsettings to 2.

Hi,

So they were 1?

Ok it could be your ISP throttling the connection.

Thanks Tom.

The logs i sent already had the buffer to 2

Does it make any difference if i try it wired with ethernet?

Hi,

I know that’s why I suggested trying setting the buffer to 1, have you tried it set to 1?

It may do, its worth a go.

Thanks Tom.

Ok i will try setting the option to that tommorrow

Nope, still buffering

It could be my ISP throthling, does a VPN fix this?

Hi,

Possibly, but vpn will be slower so you may end up with buffering anyway.

Thanks Tom.

After further inspection i found that the pi was randomly disconnecting from the wifi, im gonna try ethernet and see if it helps
