OSMC wont start

sometime age I choose Shutdown System and now I can’t start OSMC. I try second sd card with openELEC and everything is OK so i’ts not hardware. Can anyone help me ? How can I turn it on ?

Not much info here. Not even a category…
Please provide system information etc. Have a look at the sticky post atop this forum section please.

I use OSMC on Rpi2, category I choose is Help and Support, my TV can’t see anything when I launch it, what other info You want to know ?

Does the raspberry do anything at all when you try to boot with the osmc card?
Is the sd led blinking?
Do you have any custom overclock settings?
How does your config.txt look like?
Did you retry changing cards and boot?
How do you power your pi?
Tried a different powersupply?
An installation of osmc on a different sdcard?
Putting the card in a pc to see if it is readable?
Repair the boot partition on a pc?

Let me know if I should suggest more :wink:

Edit: Sorry, but there was almost no information in your post that would help diagnose the problem.

When I turn on TV I have messege on screen that there is no source, on my Rpi red led is on and green led is blinking. I don’t do anything with overclocking. My config.txt is:

dtoverlay=lirc-rpi:gpio_out_pin=17,gpio_in_pin=18
disable_overscan=1
over_voltage=0
over_voltage_sdram=0
force_turbo=0
disable_splash=1
core_freq=450
initial_turbo=0
start_x=1
sdtv_aspect=1
gpu_mem_1024=256
arm_freq=900
sdram_freq=450
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1

When I change sd card with openELEC it works. My pi is powered by USB cable connected to TV. When I connect Rpi to antoher power supply it does nothing. I can install OSMC on another sd card like I install openELEC but I have great configuration on my OSMC :slightly_smiling:. When I put sd card on my laptop It’s readable but I don’t know how to repair boot partition. I know how to reinstall linux system leaving /home partition and the all config is the same on new install but I don’t know if there will be the same on OSMC. If I copy home folder my addons and config will be working on new install of osmc?

I’d suggest to back up your home/osmc directory to a linux pc.

You might suffer sdcard corruption. Probably because you power your pi from the tv port. This is not recommended. You should use a separate and stable 5V powersupply with 2A min. If you turn off your pi by powering off your tv, this is no clean shutdown and can cause the symptoms you are describing.
maybe your sdcard is dying.

You should reinstall osmc to a new card and then copy your home folder over.

Thanks for help I will try that.

I install on other sd card and copy home folder, everything works like before :slightly_smiling:. But I have a question: How to correctly shutdown my Rpi ? I plug my smartphone charger as a power supply and now when I chose shutdown, system reboot.

You are saying when you chose shutdown (not exit) it is rebooting? That is not normal behaviour and indicate something wrong.

Also just as a side note as it was discussed often enough before no real reason to switch off the Pi

I install Raspbian on that broken sdcard and it not work but now I try openELEC and it works :slight_smile: so maybe there’s something with “Shutdown System” command that I use few times last days. Earlier I just turn off TV and everything was OK. When I use just “Shutdown” it reboot because TV is still on or when I use smartphone charger I must unplug it.

No, your SD card is faulty.

If it cant run Raspbian it is faulty, end of story. :wink:

I would not recommend using that card for anything.

Theoretically the raspberry is not designed to be shut down. I’d just leave it running 24/7.
This will be $2 or 3 a year.

I install OSMC once again on that broken sd card and it works well with smatphone charger :slight_smile: I will not shutdown then, thx for help,
regards

Good luck!
