Picture Viewer Gif Support

I am wondering whether it is possible for Picture Viewer to display Gif files correctly rather than just displaying the first frame statically?

I have a Picture Viewing Screensaver Add-On for OSMC which plays GIF’s no problem so am slightly confused as to why the native Picture Viewer doesn’t seem to support this.

Any way to easily achieve this?
