If I shutdown > power off from within OSMC, is there a way to power back on using the remote or should I not be using Shutdown at all?
If you shut down via the shutdown menu you won’t be able to power it back on by the remote, you’ll need to unplug the power and reconnect it to boot again.
Much like the Raspberry Pi and other similar devices (Apple TV, Fire TV etc) the Vero2 doesn’t have a true hardware “off” that turns the power completely off, shutdown just shuts down the operating system and turns off the HDMI signal leaving the CPU in a suspended but not completely powered off state.
You would normally only use the shutdown option if you are about to unplug or switch off the power - power consumption when running is very low - on the order of 2 or 3 watts when up and running.
Ok, thanks for clarifying that. I’m happy to leave it running as I will be migrating some automation functions from my NAS over to the Vero2.
