So today I went to turn on my TV noticing there was no signal from the Vero.
Turns out the PSU is dead as there is no red light when using the factory psu and the Vero does boot when powered via USB.
I have ordered a replacement PSU but in the meantime would it be safe to power the Vero from a phone charger connected to the USB ports?
The charger is a 5.2V 2.4A brick.
I also have the OSMC USB 3.0 hub that uses 5V 2A.

Honestly, i think it should be fine cause osmc is like a raspberry pi and basically its like Librelec so i think it should be fine besides, look at the google chromcast for example.
Sure. Although one device isn’t always like the other. I just didn’t know if the Vero could handle constant power to run the device solely through the USB ports.
Hi,
I wouldn’t recommended powering off of either, but as its temporary I would go with this one:
Chargers don’t provide constant AMPs.
Also Kodi 19 draws more power than than previous releases, so I wouldn’t recommend having anything else attached to the vero’s usbs or the hub, while its being used to power the vero4k+.
Thanks Tom.

Yeah I wouldn’t run anything else through the USB ports. Not even the USB receiver for the remote as I use the TV remote to control the Vero.
The charger is out of the question then.
I’ll probably hold off from using it for a week or more then if the USB hub method isnt safe either.

Hi @Goldenfreddy1937,
None of this your statement is true, the following is correct:
- OSMC is an operating system which runs on (current release) Vero4k/Vero4k+, Raspberry pi (except 1 and 0. But not chromecast
- OSMC is an operating system which kodi runs on top of.
- OSMC does not run on chromecast, kodi may do, but OSMC does not.
Regards Tom.

It’s fine in the sense that you won’t damage the device if the device providing power via USB is compliant but the device might not get enough power resulting in freezes or instability.
