Problem Installing on SD Card

Hello all,

First off, sorry for the long post that is about to ensue!

Hope somebody can assist, I’m trying to load OSMC onto a micro SD card. I’ve tried to do it on my Mac as well as on my Windows machine.

Before I updated the to the latest OSMC installer (the one that now has Raspberry PI 2/3 support, I was able to load OSMC onto the SD card. I have checked and the SD card is not locked as I can copy other random files onto it.

I’ve tried to use a local install as well as letting the OSMC installer download and both ways I get an error as follows:

Did you run the Installer as administrator?

On the MAC I am the Admin and on the Windows machine yes. It worked fine before, just this time not working, BUT I will try again on the Windows machine as an Admin, MAYBE I was delusional and didn’t run as an Admin.

Have you checked the write protect switch isn’t accidentally on?

Seems he has.

Our ability to reliably lock the SD card for writing is limited. Particularly with OS X El Capitan. If you can, try a PC. Would be interesting to see if this works.

I have tried with a Windows 10 machine, I get the same initial OSMC instal error. I admittedly haven’t checked the log file, I will do that Monday and revert back with the log file.

Try another card. If using an adapter, try another one too. I had an adapter recently that reported RO constantly.

The log will likely yield some information too.
