Hi, I’m having a problem with my Vero V and the remote control that came with it: sometimes the Vero responds normally when I press a button on the remote, but the next second it doesn’t respond at all to signals from the remote, and sometimes pressing a button triggers two actions on the Vero.
I’m running the Vero with a 6TB WD hard drive, which is connected via a Y-cable to meet the drive’s power requirements. I’ve realised that this can cause problems.
However, today I shut down the Vero, disconnected the hard drive and re-paired the remote control. The problems were still occurring.
So I removed the hard drive again, switched off the Vero, connected the USB dongle for my Vero 4k, restarted the Vero, and then paired the Vero 4k’s remote control. With this setup (but without the hard drive), everything works perfectly: every click of the remote control triggers the desired action – and only one (!) action.
Unfortunately, this solution isn’t viable for me, as I need both USB ports for my HDD.
Is this a known issue? Could the remote control be faulty? Or could the Vero’s receiver be faulty?
The Vero V is a bit more susceptible to RF interference than the earlier model. The following wiki will provide some guidance…
As for your limited USB port issue your best off with that drive to actually have it plugged into a powered hub that can supply more headroom than your Y cable setup. If that is not an option you can get cheap simple bus powered USB HUBS that should be able to connect inline on one side of your Y cable to allow for a couple more devices. These types of hubs and the OSMC RF receivers require a very small amount of current to run typically so it should keep your existing working drive from no longer working. Your likely on the edge of “good enough” though.
I have heard that the blue tooth usb can be a bit sensitive to interference. If you have a decent lenght USB extension cable, it would be easy to try plugging this into the Vero so the Blue tooth usb device is well away from things ?
I don’t use a USB stick at all. The remote control works via the Vero V’s built-in receiver.
Unfortunately, moving the hard drive further away and behind the Vero didn’t help. I’m only using the USB 3 port for power; the data comes through the other USB port.
I’ve now re-paired the remote control several times and even fitted a new battery. All to no avail
And as mentioned before, the problem with the remote control occurs even when no device – or even just a cable – is connected to the Vero.
