Projector (Benq TK860i) not turning off with Vero V running

Hi all,

I have just received and set up my Vero V. I’m very happy about being able to play my backed-up 3D rays. Yay.

One minor hiccup is that my projector will not fully shut down and turn off, when the Vero is connected and running. I’d be happy to hear if someone else is experiencing this slight problem - and if there is a solution.

So here is the step-by-step process leading to the problem:

  • Watch a movie on projector/Vero
  • Turn off projector
  • Projector starts shut-down sequence
  • Shut-down sequence indicator (in projected image) vanishes after expected time
  • Projector becomes irresponsive (i.e. no button on the remote and no button on the projector itself does anything anymore)
  • Projector keeps projecting the image

When the projector enters this state, it will (thankfully) still switch off if there is no signal from any connected source - as configured in the auto-off settings of the projector. So this is a work-around.

When I send the Vero into stand-by before powering-off the projector, everything works as expected.

So my speculation is, that the projector sends a power-off signal to the connected HDMI sources when itself tries to power down and somehow the Vero behaves differently from other sources I have connected (bluray player, fire tv stick) and interferes with the expected sequence.

As stated above, there a workarounds (auto-off or adhering to the “correct” order of shutting things down manually), but it would be nice if it worked in any given situation.

All the best
Andreas

Hi, perhaps you have to play with the CEC settings on the Vero or completely disable CEC if not required at. Look at

settings -> system -> input -> peripherals -> CEC adapter

(your settings level on bottom left has to be standard or higher).
When the TV is switched off sounds to be an interesting option for you …

I set When the TV is switched off to Ignore - that did it!
Thank you very much for your help

A bit strange… now it stopped working again.
Anyway I’m going to do some more experiments in the CEC section and see if something works out. Without the Vero connected I’m able to shut down/power down the projector correctly and reproducably.

If I understood other posts correctly, it’s suggested to hard-reboot and cut power for some time from the vero in between config changes, so I’ll try that as well.

For the sake of completeness - I’ve already tried switching HDMI cables.

Do you need CEC at all? Means, do you use your projector’s remote control to operate the OSMC mediaplayer or do you use the OSMC remote control for that?
Otherwise try to disable CEC on the Vero; the flag is among the other CEC items near the middle of the menu.
