Randomly getting artifacts while playing videos

Hi,

I’ve searched around the forum but I couldn’t find any threads about my issue, so apologies if this has already been discussed.

On OSMC (running latest update) on RPi4, recently (in the last 2-3 weeks maybe) I’ve started noticing artifacts randomly appearing while playing videos. They look like this:

The artifacts appear every 2 to 5 minutes on average and last for about a quarter of a second.
Any ideas?

No meaningful support can be provided without logs.

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

Still experiencing this. Any ideas?

Can you post some MediaInfo output of the file?

Thanks

Sam

Thank you for your reply Sam.

Here below are 2 examples of videos that produced artifacts, but to be honest it seems to be happening with any video.

Not sure – hopefully this improves in the future.
