Raspberry Pi 2+ New (re)build - Rainbow scrren

Hello Everyone,

I am new to posting as I haven’t every really had a need, however I am completely stuck.

I have a Raspberry 2+ that has been running OSMC including updates very very well for at least 18months! For whatever reason I decided to do a rebuild on it today to clean things up.

Now I get nothing other than the rainbow screen of nothingness.

I have tried the Mac installer, I have tried the Windows Installer via a VM and nothing. I have gone out and purchased new 16Gb Class10 MicroSD’s (Kingston) and I have gone and purchased Raspberry branded power supplies.

I downloaded Noobs and the Raspberry works, including on the MicoSD that originally had OSMC on that now doesn’t boot / load (not sure of correct terminology). So, I know the problem isn’t the Raspberry.

I have tried using the OSMC installer on the new MicroSD’s and I get the Rainbow screen of boringness.

I am pretty much at my albeit limited fault finding knowledge so I ask for help from those more capable than myself.

Finally, I will apologise in advance if my lack of technical knowledge is a frustration to others.

Cheers

I assume you choose the wrong device.

Can you post a piicture of your Pi front and Back, maybe it is actually not a Pi2 as there is no “+” of the Pi2

You know - I just tried a different image and it seems to be installing. If this was my mistake then I am sorry for wasting all of your time. I much prefer to read these posts and learn than be the person who doesn’t try to self help.

Interestingly, I did try a different image on the old card that used to work (this morning!) but that didn’t work either. So, I guess I should try that old card with the new power supply just for thoroughness.

Thank you for you help!!!

As we thought, this is a Raspberry Pi 1 B+ and NOT a Raspberry Pi 2 which has the RAM on the underneath of the PCB.

Thank you mate - sorry to be so stupid and waste your time.

Not stupid at all, it’s a mistake quite a few have made. Glad you are sorted.

As @jb2cool wrote happened before.
To be precise it is a B+ v1.2 which the last “2” always confuses people

Absolutely had me confused that is for certain! However, I did go out today and purchase a Raspberry Pi 3 - that is the for other TV. We have just moved which was sort of the catalyst of all of these shenanigans!

Thank you all for your time and help! Oh, and as an aside - I think OSMC is an exceptional product with some very skilled people behind it and indeed using it!

Ok for that one use the Pi2 image
