Raspberry Pi no longer boots

I have the very first Raspberry pi with 256MB, it no longer boots since the latest OSMC update. When I plug it in I get the red light and then the yellow light for a few seconds and then it goes out just leaving the red light and nothing more happend. I read that the new update needs more power so found a power supply that was 1.6A but that hasnt helped.

I tried plugging in the SD card into my windows 7 laptop and got a popup prompting me to scan and fix (I declined), does this mean I have corrupted the card somehow?

While this clearly means that your card is corrupted this might just have been caused by unplugging it after it failed to boot. So let Windows repair the boot partition.
And then maybe post the file listing of what you see on the card.
But definitely doesn’t look good, which was the version (month update) you ran before?

I believe it was the latest update, but I cant remember precisely and currently have no means of finding out. I will let windows try and fix the card and then try again tonight. Thanks for your help.

I forgot to say that after declining to fix the card I could see some files on the card, I will get a file listing tonight.

I tried the scan and fix in windows but it still wont boot, here is the file list according to my Windows 7 laptop. Is it totally broken? Do I have to reinstall OSMC?

I don’t know if you are using a SD card adapter, this could be the problem.
I had the same problem, after using another Sdcard adapter, the problem was solved.

card looks ok. plug it back into the Pi and try directly at the beginning when the multicolor rectangle is shown to press SHIFT multiple times. That should bring you to an emergancy console. In there try
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
and if successful reboot

Thanks for the tips, I was using a microsd card in an adapter so tried a new adapter but it didnt help, I also tried pressing shift but that didnt do anything either, I dont think it is even getting to the multicolour rectangle bit at all. I am beginning to sense that I need to do a reinstall of OSMC and need to then reconfigure everything.
