I just started with OSMC and a new RPi3. Hopefully some one can help me out.
My RPi3 + OSMC is giving a VGA signal in steed of a HDMI signal to my HD TV.
How can I setup for a full HD experience?
On for hand thanks for your help!
Robert
My config.txt file:
gpu_mem_1024=256
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1
hmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=16
decode_MPG2=XXXXXXXX
disable_overscan=1
start_x=1
dtoverlay=lirc-rpi
disable_splash=1
NOOBS Auto-generated Settings:
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_edid_file=1
gpu_mem_256=112
sdtv_aspect=1
dtparam=gpio_in_pin=18
dtparam=gpio_out_pin=17
My installed:
Raspberry Pi3 + original RPi3 power supply (2,5mA)
OSMC (2016.02-03) + MPEG-2 codec installed and working
My RPi is wired + wifi connected to the internet
HDMI connected to my ONKYO (TX-NR-807) and the ONKYO is connected to a HD TV
HD TV Panasonic 1080P@ 100Hz
Hi,
Try adding hdmi_force_hotplug=1 in you settings.
If I am not mistaking you do not have this setting at the moment.
Are you sure that HDMI out is enabled on your Onkyo system?

Hi Floris,
Thanks for your quick reply!
I the attached config.txt file under NOOBS Auto-generated settings:
There is a line hdmi_force_hotplug=1
Yes, my Onkyo is HDMI enabled on these in/outputs.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Robert
The hdmi_force_hotplug is useful where the presence of hdmi isn’t properly detected, while the edid_file is used to refer to a saved set of EDID info where it won’t get properly read (device not on at startup, or some intermediate device hinders reading)

Hi Derek,
Thanks for your input!
I just ran the dmesg commando and found a line
13.757004] FAT-fs (mmcblk0p1): Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be
corrupt. Please run fsck
I tried to run the commando fsck and sudo fsck but it is not working.
Any suggestions?
Do I need to make a new clean install?
Robert
Even so this sounds but it actually is ok as OSMC doesn’t force a fsck on the boot partition.
I would recommend a clean install with the OSMC installer here Download - OSMC , NOT Noobs

Hi Fzinken & Dilligaf,
Thank you for your feedback!
Can I make a backup of my osmc/ kodi settings and can I import it after a clean install?
Or is it better to do a full clean install?
Robert
Since you don’t have a Kodi problem there shouldn’t be any reason why you couldn’t back up

Hi Diligaf,
I have no idea how to back up and restore?
There is a feature in the MyOSMC add-on.

thanks! Sorry for my basic question
There’s a backup utility in MyOSMC otherwise just copy /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata folder

The fact that it’s a Noobs install means I don’t know for sure what is going on behind the scenes. Sorry.
