Over the past few weeks the refresh that occurs on startup has been taking an age to complete and if I attempt to start a video whilst it’s occurring the system hangs, also if I perform a cleanup the system hangs (this used to take around 10 mins to complete but now just doesn’t do anything and requires a power reset)
I assume I will need to reinstall OSMC but is there a way to backup the play status of the library so I know what has been watched etc??
Yesterday i was scanning new album to my library, it took about 3 hours. Last time i scanned it took about 15 minutes. This was before august update. I will try again today, maybe this was one time problem.

Hmmm, problem is I cant clean the library as it just hangs 
What can I tell you that Kodi propose some tips

Is you’re data stored locally or on network?
stored on NAS
Then you must have rather small media collection :).
I tried to scan my collection again, right now it seems work ok.
Sometime i’ve issues too with some ffmpeg thumbnails
My workaroudl is
TV series works fine the most of time sometime a ffmpeg error, when ffmepg can’t created a thumbnail from ts file. But if you get another try, its works.
Films the scan stop after sometime ( another ffmpeg error). When you take a look to the kodi log, you can see the film.
The soluiton is restart the mediacenter from ssh, and the scan go forward, when you do it more and more its works.
But: For films and TV Series I use Tinymediamanager to select film or TVSerie/episode and create the nfo file. For me close my eyes and start automatic scan its another no-go.
I did a clean and an update of music and video (last one happens daily) without any issues, seems like a Kodi issue for Kodi forums.
